Bowl for Kids Sake, March 6

Dayton Area Realtors Go Bowling for Big Brothers Big Sisters

In Projects by Bob Jones

Dayton REALTORS® lent their support to Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami Valley on Friday, March 6, participating in “Bowl for Kids’ Sake – REALTOR® Edition”, putting on their bowling shoes and hitting the lanes in a quest for strikes to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters. This REALTOR®-only event was the prelude to the Community edition that took place on Saturday, March 7. At the end of the event, REALTORS® and affiliates rasied over $20,000 to support this great cause.

“Community service is a core value of REALTORS®,” stated Sham Reddy, president of Dayton REALTORS®. “Big Brothers Big Sisters is just a wonderful organization, and we are proud to take part in an event that helps to enhance children’s lives. The teams are made up of real estate firms and families competing against one another, but regardless of who gets the high score, BBBS kids will be the big winners. It’s going to be great fun!”

Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ longest running grassroots event. Last year, over 500 people and 30 Dayton-area businesses came together to have fun and raise money to support the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. The money raised from this event helps children facing adversity in the greater Miami Valley succeed in school and in life. BBBS relies on donations to carefully pair children with caring adult mentors and to provide consistent match support for the volunteers, children and their families so that the mentoring lasts and the outcomes are positive.

As members of the community, REALTORS® take part in a number of community initiatives throughout the year, from volunteering with Rebuilding Together rehabbing homes, to donating money and materials to Dayton area schools and packing care packages for the troops. The Dayton REALTORS® Foundation provides scholarships to dependents of REALTORS®, and their annual holiday reception serves as Dayton’s largest source of donated toys to the Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots.
