Dayton Realtors Tackle Hunger Issue in Dayton

In Projects by Bob Jones

As families struggle to make ends meet during this global pandemic, Dayton REALTORS® has taken bold action to tackle hunger in the Miami Valley. Through the Dayton REALTORS® Foundation, they have partnered with the Hall Hunger Initiative and are supporting their efforts with a $10,000 donation.

"On behalf of the Hall Hunger Initiative, I'd like to thank Dayton REALTORS® for your generous contribution,” remarked Hall Hunger Initiative ambassador Tony Hall. “Your support will help us continue to provide food and leadership during this unprecedented crisis. When the need was greatest, Dayton REALTORS® really came through for our community. Thank you!"

The Hall Hunger Initiative is ideally situated to address hunger in our region - especially for those made most vulnerable to hunger from the pandemic. The mission of the Hall Hunger Initiative is to create permanent change for those struggling with hunger in Dayton. Realizing this is a marathon and not a sprint, their goal is to ultimately create a hunger-free community. Some of their projects include: delivering $34,000 of food to those hardest hit by COVID-19 in the Dayton region; leading the capital campaign that created the Gem City Market; food rescue; a collaborative community food plan; and many other programs that can be seen on their website: https://hallhunger.org.

“Assisting those in the community that have the greatest need is the purpose of the Dayton REALTORS® Foundation,” stated Dayton REALTORS® president Sham Reddy. “The Hall Hunger Initiative is at the forefront of eradicating hunger from the Dayton region, and we’re proud to assist them in any way we can.”

As members of the community, REALTORS® take pride in mobilizing the resources of the Dayton REALTORS® Foundation. Last year the foundation worked with Ohio REALTORS® to provide over $500,000 of tornado relief to the region and donated thousands of dollars of food to the victims. Earlier this year, REALTORS® came together to raise more than $20,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters during their “Bowl for Kids’ Sake”. REALTORS® also take part in a number of community initiatives throughout the year, from volunteering with Rebuilding Together rehabbing homes, to donating money and materials to Dayton area schools and preparing care packages for the troops. The Dayton REALTORS® Foundation provides scholarships to dependents of REALTORS®, and their annual holiday reception serves as Dayton’s largest source of donated toys to the Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots.

Help us support the Hall Hunger Initiative and let's get the community fed.
